Sunday Morning Worship Team Opportunities

Leader: Pastor Matthew

We invite you to become an active participant in our Sunday Morning Worship Team. There are several roles available for those who wish to contribute their time and talents to our worship services. Each role is essential to creating a welcoming and meaningful experience for all in attendance.

Readers

Readers play an essential role in our worship by presenting the Old and New Testament lessons to the congregation. This role involves reading scripture passages clearly and with reverence during the service.

Greeters/Ushers

Greeters and ushers welcome people as they arrive at church and offer bulletins to guide them through the service. They are available to answer any questions that visitors may have, helping newcomers feel comfortable and informed. Additionally, greeters and ushers assist during offertory and communion as needed, ensuring that these moments proceed smoothly.

Acolyte

The acolyte assists the pastor at the altar, particularly during the procession and benediction. This supportive role helps maintain the order and flow of the worship service.

Music Ministry

The music ministry, led by Mary Jane Seanor, prepares and leads the music during the service. Skilled musicians who wish to share their talents are encouraged to join us in supporting this vital aspect of our worship experience. Click here for more information.

Tech Team

The Tech Team, led by Mike Schmitt, is responsible for managing and operating the audio, video, and streaming equipment to ensure a seamless, distraction-free worship service. Key tasks include operating cameras, managing presentation software (ProPresenter), and troubleshooting technical issues during live services. Training is available to anyone interested.

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild, led by April Benham, is a lay ministry responsible for preparing and maintaining the sanctuary for worship. This includes changing altar paraments, preparing communion elements, and caring for linens and vessels, all as acts of prayer and service.

Fellowship Team

Leader: Candy Cain and Lisa Lupis

The Fellowship team coordinates church events including potlucks, Fire Pit Fridays, and Christmas Caroling. These activities involve sharing meals, which facilitates conversation among members and offers opportunities for visitors to participate in group events.

Cemetery Team

Leader: Brad Branch

The Cemetery team keeps current records of lot reservations, burials, interned grave sites, and available sites at Joy Chapel and Galilee Cemeteries. They also evaluate and maintain the grounds as needed. Click here for more information on Joy Chapel and click here for more information on Galilee Cemetery

Maintenance Team

Leader: Brian Getty

The church maintenance team is responsible for keeping the buildings and grounds safe and well-maintained. Their duties include repairing plumbing and electrical systems, maintaining outdoor areas, and coordinating with vendors. The team helps support the church's activities by maintaining its physical facilities. Individuals at all skill levels contribute to the upkeep of these spaces.

Leadership Team

Leader: Ron Crescini

Our Leadership Team, also known as the Hollywood Unified Board (HUB), aligns church resources with the church's vision and mission and maintains high-level oversight of all church functions. The HUB is responsible for ensuring that the facility is properly maintained and insured, that personnel policies are followed, and that the church’s finances are effectively managed and monitored. The Committee on Nominations and Leadership Development nominates committee members, and the church/charge conference elects HUB members. Contact Pastor Matthew or Ron Crescini if you are interested in a Leadership Position.

Outreach Ministries

Leader: Janet Cook

UMC outreach ministries provide community support at the local and global levels through programs such as food pantries, homeless services, disaster relief, affordable housing assistance, youth development, and collections of essential goods. Children's Ministry

Leader: Janet McGovern

Our children’s ministry program is designed to help children grow in their relationship with Jesus through Bible lessons, activities, and fellowship. It involves creating a safe, welcoming environment with age-appropriate programs, such as Sunday school, infant and toddler nursery during our Worship Service, and special events like camps and Vacation Bible School. The goal is to teach children about faith, help them build a biblical foundation, and equip them to live out their faith in the world. Click here to learn more.

Youth Ministry

Leader: Ryan Quinn

The youth ministry program is designed to support young individuals as they progress in their faith journey, fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. The program offers comprehensive leadership development for both church and community involvement, integrating worship and Bible study with a variety of social and service initiatives—including mission trips, service projects, and fellowship events—to effectively address spiritual, emotional, and social needs. Small Group Leadership

Leader: Pastor Matthew

Small-group leaders foster spiritual growth by encouraging discussion and discipleship, rather than acting as the sole authority. We are seeking volunteers who are willing to create a welcoming space, model prayer and scripture, and help members form genuine connections with one another and with God. Success depends on being present, accountable, and supporting members in becoming mature disciples who mentor others. Click here to learn more about our current small group studies.
